About Katsura Garden
A long-standing business founded in 1974, specializing in bonsais and indoor plants. Offers free consulting and repotting, in-city delivery for an affordable fee. Open 7 days a week.
Located at 1825 Post St #110, San Francisco, CA 94115, Katsura Garden operates as a plant nursery serving San Francisco in California. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as store, so it may cover more than the name suggests.
In San Francisco, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in California, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.
The business lists hours on 7 days of the week. Typical hours are 10 amβ6:30 pm. As with most places, expect changes around holidays; the phone number below is the fastest way to confirm. The listed phone number is (415) 931-6209. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is katsuragardensf.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.
On Google it holds a rating of 4.7 out of 5 from 91 reviews, which is a strong result for a plant nursery in San Francisco and suggests consistent service.
San Francisco is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around San Francisco is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Japantown is one of my go to places in SF but I do not know why I have never stopped by this plant shop before. I am really happy I got curious because I found two lovely plants. I am in the area enough that I will stop by against.

You can tell she loves her plants. Bought a beautiful kokedama from her and she gave some tips on my bonsai. Looking forward to having her fix my orchid in the future. (β§β½β¦)

I don't have a green thumb, but my girlfriend does. On the other hand, I am enamored by the art of bonsai. Katsura Garden is a beautiful store. Dense from floor to ceiling with gorgeous plants of all shapes and sizes, as well as supplies, and clearly tended by a shopkeeper who cares about the stock. The bonsais themselves ranged in size and price, from a few inches to several feet, and $20 to $2,000. Some beautiful specimens that must have taken years to shape. I did not buy a bonsai because I would accidentally kill it. But my girlfriend bought a nice little spider plant, and we are both happy :)

Such an adorable little plant shop. Beautiful healthy selection of plants. Store and plants are well cared for. Plants are displayed well and easy to see and reach. Shop is smaller and narrow, so keep that in mind. Not great for little children as they will want to grab the plants (but shouldn't). Every plant lover gotta visit!

This place is heaven for plant lovers! It's a cute small shop in the Japan Center that's run by a sweet Japanese lady. I have to stop by every time I'm in Japantown, to do some plant shopping and/or to admire all the amazing plants. They have a little bit of everything. A wide selection healthy plants, from beautiful bonsais and orchids to both common and rare houseplants! Some of the really rare plants are not for sale and only for viewing. I love to look at the huge monstera Thai constellation in the back. Its leaves are massive and gorgeous! They also have a big selection of decorative planters and other plant supplies in the back. It's the perfect place to visit for any plant need.
